During our cycle trip of Denmark we rested our weary legs in the country’s second largest city: Aarhus. While Copenhagen might be the capital of Denmark, Aarhus has much to offer the discerning city tripper and it’s not without reason that it was crowned European Capital of Culture 2017. Beyond its main cultural attractions the city boasts an array of eateries, cafes and alternative points of interest. Here are a few of my favourite places to eat, drink and explore:

Dome of Visions

The harbour area of Aarhus is currently undergoing redevelopment, with cranes swinging overhead and contemporary apartments springing up along the water. Closer to the city, on an unused piece of land, The Dome of Visions adds something unique and contrasting to its industrial surroundings. A large dome of wood and transparent material makes for a light space, and the plants inside the structure add to its natural ambience which couldn’t feel further from the container shipping yard just across the water.
